Principal's Message

Welcome back! Bienvenido!

Dear Green Park Families,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year. The start of a school year is a time of renewal, a chance to set new goals, and an opportunity to grow both academically and personally.

I extend a warm welcome to our returning students and families and extend an equally warm greeting to those who are joining our Panther family. Together, we form a diverse and vibrant community that makes Green Park a truly special place of learning and growth.

This year, we will continue to build upon the foundation of excellence that Green Park is known for. Our dedicated faculty and staff have been hard at work refining our approach to education to ensure that each student's potential is nurtured and celebrated.

As a former Green Park student and current site administrator, I am committed to fostering a solid home-to-school connection to ensure our children can achieve high levels of learning. Your involvement in your child's education is invaluable. Parents and community members are partners in educating Green Park's students. We encourage parents and community members to volunteer at our school.

On behalf of the Green Park Elementary School staff, I want to thank you for being a part of our panther community. Thank you for being a part of our vibrant community, and here's to a successful, fulfilling, and inspiring school year ahead!

Warm regards,

Cesar C Hernandez
Principal, Green Park Elementary

Safety at Green Park Elementary

In our current climate, safety is a concern on our minds as staff, parents and students.  Nevertheless, we continue to provide our students with a learning environment that focuses on high levels of learning in a safe, nurturing environment.

That said, we wanted to be sure to provide with you a review of the types of safety drills we practice at Green Park each month.  These drills are mandated by our state, and can be found in RCW 28a.320.125, which focuses on Safe School Plans.  These drills include:

  • Shelter-in-place, used to limit the exposure of students and staff to hazardous materials
  • Lockdown, used to isolate students and staff from threats of violence (such as an  intruder)
  • Evacuation, used to move students and staff away from threats (such as fire).

Each month, we practice drills, with minimal classroom distractions, and without detailed conversations and/or simulations that would create a stressful situation for our students. However, if there was ever an unscheduled lockdown or legitimate threat/safety risk, we would make sure you were informed.

If you are interested in or looking for resources relevant to school safety, consider the National Association of School Psychologist's site, www.nasponline.org.

If at any time you have concerns about the drills we practice, or any other safety concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
